Prior to the mid 1980s, the mortgage market was mainly client led with the general public approaching their local building society as and when they needed mortgage facilities. At this time there was virtually no competition between lenders and therefore no need to design mortgage products that suited the borrower rather than the lender.

Market Changes

In the late 80's and early 90's the market began to change when, as the general public began to become more demanding with their financial requirements, a number of enlightened lenders began offering innovative products to suit the market.
